Right from the kick off Corby Town came under immense pressure from a fired up Alfreton Town side.
The defence worked tirelessley to keep the score to 0-0 at half time. During the first 45 minutes the only chance that Corby created was when Paul Mayo got himself into a shooting position right on the stroke of half time but his shot across the keeper just slid by the far post.
The second half had only just got under way when the ball fell outside the Steelmen's box for Matthew Burke who volleyed a screamer past Mark Osborn.
The defence continued to be doing overtime and Mark Osborn made two great saves to keep the Steelmen in the game but it was only when Chris Hope was sent up front that they looked anything like threatening.
Certainly Paddy Gamble in the Alfreton goal had his easiest of games this season.
