Hyde United 1 - 3 Corby Town (A)
Corby Town enjoyed an excellent playing surface this afternoon at Ewen Fields, the home of Hyde United.
Steve Towers put the Steelmen on their way after 24 minutes and added to his tally with another goal after 75 minutes.
Leon Mettam made it 3-0 after 87 minutes after a delightful one-two with Mark Stallard.
A minute later Mettam took control of a penalty awarded after Steve Diggin was brought down but his fierce shot hit the underside of the crossbar and rebounded back into play.
The referee added five minutes extra time due to a lengthy hold up for a serious looking injury to Joe Francis that had him taken to hospital with a suspected broken leg.
In the final minute of the game Hyde scored a consolation goal by Scott McNiven.
The good news of Joe Francis was he was allowed out of hospital after x-rays showed no break but severe bruising.
He was eventually able to join the team coach, which had delayed its return journey at 8.00pm.
