Farsley Celtic AFC 1 - 2 Corby Town (A)
Corby pulled off another great away win at Farsley Celtic this afternoon which moved them up to second place in the league, one point behind Southport.
Farsley Celtic 1 (Jackson 19) Corby Town 2 (Lee 65, Diggin 67)
It was against the run of play when Mark Jackson met a free kick into the box and planted a good header past goalkeeper Mark Osborn.
Up to then it had been Corby Town who had looked the most likely to score and following that opening goal they always looked the more threatening.
Manager Graham Drury waited until the 55th minute before bringing on Steve Diggin for Sam Smith and Corby continued to press hard for the equaliser.
A few minutes later Leon Mettam made way for Jason Lee and within a few minutes the Steelmen were level when under pressure Lee kept a cool head to thread the ball into the corner of Piotr Skiba's net for his first goal of the season.
Before Farsley could recover Steve Diggin scored a typical Diggin goal when he outbattled his opponent and forced his way into the box before rifling the ball into the far corner of the goal.
Both teams continued to make chances and Mark Osborn brought off some top quality saves near the end to protect the lead, but this was both a classy and gritty display from Graham Drury's team and there was no way they were going to come away with anything but the valuable three points.
Sam Smith made an encouraging debut and Jack Defty looked like a new man which must have delighted Drury who now has an exciting array of talented forwards to pick from.
