Corby Town 1 - 1 Southport (H)
Whatever it is that Graham Drury has been feeding the players it has obviously started to work at home games.
With the 4-0 drubbing we received at Southport the 'Port' might have expected another easy afternoon, but it turned out to be anything but for them.
There was simply nothing between the two teams and if anything Corby will feel they should probably have won the game.
They were ahead after 2 minutes when captain Phil Gulliver rifled the ball home after Southport failed to clear.
Southport equalised after 21 minutes when a Dave Deeney back pass failed miserably to get anywhere near Mark Osborn and gave Ciaran Kilheeney a free run on goal.
Corby kept up the good work for the whole 90 minutes and might have expected more from referee Kevin Hayward who disallowed two good penalty appeals from Ricky Miller.
Graham Drury thought our home form was jinxed. Anyone watching this game would agree to being 'unfortunate' now but if the Steelmen carry on where they left off tioday then they may still surprise a few people with a late run for the play-offs.
Final Score: Corby Town 1 (Phil Gulliver 2) Southport 1 (Kilheeney 21)
Date of fixture: Sat 27 Feb 10
