Corby Town 2 - 2 Rushden & Diamonds (H)
Corby Town showed a never say die attitude to spoil what had looked like a victory for Rushden & Diamonds with just three minutes remaining and Justin Edinburgh's side leading 2-0.
But the Steelmen never know when they are beaten these days under manager Graham Drury and two great strikes, the first from Jack Defty after 88 minutes and the second from Leon Mettam 89 minutes brought the scores level.
Tomlin had opened the scoring after 25 minutes with a superb strike which keeper Ayden Duffy had no chance with and then Sam Smith was given a gift goal after a defensive misunderstanding between Phil Gulliver and keeper Duffy.
The crowd of 760 were well entertained throughout the game and it was Corby fans who went home with smiles on their faces after their team's grandstand finish.
Next game for the Steelmen is away at Grantham on Thursday evening and then they entertain Atherstone on Saturday at the Triangle in the League Champions v Cup Winners from last season.
Date of fixture: Mon 27 Jul 09
