Spalding United 1 - 5 Corby Town (A)
Spalding United 1 v Corby Town 5 (Mettam, Lee 2, Diggin, Tocco pen)
H.T. Spalding United 0 v Corby Town 1 (Mettam)
Had Corby Town taken full advantage of the chances that came their way the Steelmen could easily have made it into double figures.
The Spalding keeper did well to keep the score to 1-0 at half time although Graham Drury might have expected more from his strike force than one solitary goal scored by Leon Mettam.
In the second half the Steelmen improved their finishing with goals from Steve Diggin, Jason Lee 2, and Paul Tocco penalty.
Jason Lee missed two sitters in the last ten ten minutes and Spalding's goal was a miskick from Mark Osborn that struck the oncoming Spalding striker and rebounded into the goal.
That was about as busy as Osborn was all evening which just about sums up the amount of possession the Steelmen had opposed to their opponents, who to be fair never gave up and chased and harried until they visibly tired as the game wore on.
The one worry for manager Graham Drury was the injury to Dean West who had just come on to the field as a substitute in the second half when he was clattered by an over enthusiastic opponent.
