A desperately disappointed Graham Drury will be asking the question why his team couldn't play in the first half like they did in the second.

Corby mounted wave after wave of attack and when Steve Diggin reduced the arrears to 2-1 in the 53rd minute it looked odds on Corby would at least force a replay, but some wayward finishing cost them dearly.

A disconsolate chairman Peter Mallinger said after the game, 'As well as the obvious cash injection the FA Cup can produce it is also the one competition that will bring supporters out of their armchairs and along to see a live match. That is an opportunity we have just lost.

'Looking on the bright side this time last year we lost in the same competition to AFC Telford. After that we went on to win the Southern Premier League championship.

'If we can repeat that and win back-to-back promotions to the Conference Premier the FA Cup loss of yesterday will soon be forgotten and might even be a blessing in disguise.

'One thing we have learned from the past couple of weeks is if Droylsden and Eastwood are among the favourites to win the league then we are certainly a good enough side to challenge for the top spot ourselves this season.
